How to remain in Faith through Adversity

I would like to share with you today what has helped me to stay in Faith through adversity. These tips have helped me on my journey of handling difficult situations in my life. I am still a working progress on my faith journey but doing these things has definitely helped me a lot. So I pray it will help you as well. Amen. Before I go into how to remain in Faith through adversity, I would like to first define the meaning of adversity.

Adversity is a difficult situation and hardship we will have in life. Yes, we will all have adversity at some point in our life. Even as Christians we will face difficulties. Jesus never said we would never face trouble but he did say that through him you may have peace. John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. Let’s take heart! I have overcome the world.”

This leads me to one of the ways on how to remain in Faith through difficulties. You must have God in your life and he will give you peace. There is no other way around it; you must grow a close relationship with God. The more time you spend with God the more you will be at peace. Why? Because you will remember that God is always with you and will protect you. Philippians 4:7 says… “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Not only that the Holy Spirit that lives inside of you will give you guidance and direction over your life. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. There is nothing like the rest and peace from God. You can have the whole world crumbling around you but when you have God on your side none of that phases you. You still have joy on the inside because you know everything will be alright. Amen.

Now you may ask how do I build a close relationship with God. I’m glad you asked and it is through daily prayers. Yes, daily prayers! And not just praying to God when you need something or when something bad happens. Prayer must become your lifestyle. Start your day talking with God and thanking him for all he has done. We all have something to be thankful for so start your day off by giving him thanks. As soon as you wake up take the time to thank him for waking you up and starting you on your way. Every morning I try to make time with God. Before I fully start my day I talk to God and read a devotional.

Another thing that I do to stay in Faith is meditation. After my morning prayer, I sit in silence and listen to what the Holy Spirit wants to tell me. Prayer time is us talking to God and when we meditate in silence we are making time to listen to God. We are so quick to get up as soon as we are done praying but we don’t take the time to sit and listen. When you are talking to your friend asking for advice are you going to get up as soon as you are done talking. Ok girl I’m done chatting I’m about to head out. I’m pretty sure your answer is no because you would like to know what your friend has to say. It’s the same thing after you are done praying and afterward you will listen. I’m not saying God will speak to you every time but it’s good to make the time. When God sees you are putting in the effort to spend time with him I am positive he will speak to you in his own time. Now I understand we all have busy lives but I think it’s important to take the time with God. God took the time to wake us up this morning so we could at least say thank you Lord for all you have done for me. I would like to share with you how the Lord spoke to me a couple of days ago. I was parking my car at Target and before I got out I was thinking. I was thinking about how everything is so high nowadays. Food, gas, etc. So I finally got out of my car and started walking towards Target. As I was walking I noticed five birds on the ground eating. I was so fixated on these birds enjoying their food. While I was looking I heard the Holy Spirit remind me about a verse in the Bible. The verse is located in Matthew 6:26 and it says, “Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your Heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? The next verse reads “can all of your worries add a single moment to your life?” Like wow! I was amazed because God took that moment to remind me that he will continue to provide for me and not to worry. God takes care of the birds, he will take care of you as well.

Another way is to read your Bible and stand on the promises of God. Reading the Bible will definitely help you stay in peace through adversity. You must meditate on the promises of God daily so you are reminded of what the word of God says. Ask God to help you to renew your mind daily. And you know what is so awesome about the Bible? Whatever you are going through in your season of life there are numerous scriptures that will give you encouragement and hope. If you are worried about your health there are plenty of scriptures in the Bible that will give you hope. One scripture is in Jeremiah 30:17 and it says, “But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds, declares the Lord.” If you are worried about your finances there are scriptures you can read that can restore your faith. One of my favorites is Psalm 34:10 it says, “Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry, but those who trust in the Lord will lack no good thing.” I chose this scripture the other day to stand on. When I pray I remind God about his promises and I say God it says in your word as long as I trust in you I will lack no good thing. So I will do my part and continue to trust in the Lord. As long as I keep the faith I know me and my family will never lack, Amen. I truly hope what I shared encourages you today. And I pray you continue to keep the faith. Below I will add a few Bible Verses that can be helpful on your journey to overcoming adversity.
