Have you ever had a moment in your life where you felt so frustrated and discouraged? Well, I had one of those moments the other day. I was going through a situation where I wanted to quit and throw in the towel.
So I prayed to God about it and he showed me what to do immediately. After I finished praying I began to read my devotional for the day and the topic was Persevere. Perseverance is the act of continuing to do something even though the task is difficult and involves obstacles.
What I learned from that devotional is trusting God plays a big part in our ability to persevere. You must have faith in God and hold on to God’s word. When we go to God in prayer and read His word we can find the strength we need to persevere.
In 1 Corinthians (15:58) Paul describes perseverance as being “steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord”. So what does that mean? It means we will stand firm and not let our faith waver. We will continue to trust God and not be moved when we face trials and difficulties.
You have to get back up and not let whatever is discouraging you make you quit. You have to get your faith up and ask the Lord to give you the strength to see things through. You have to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not lean on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5-6). I get it life is challenging at times but hold on to God’s unchanging hands. I will say this…the times in my life when my faith was being tested, that is when my faith grew stronger. Why? Because at those times I had no choice but to depend on God to get me through.
So always remember God is trustworthy and faithful. God loves us and wants what is best for us. So stay encouraged and trust that the plan God has for you will come to pass.
